Dennis Farina, 64, played a cop on TV's Law and Order and was a policeman in real life in Chicago, but screeners at Los Angeles International Airport could care less when he tried to bring a loaded handgun on a plane in his briefcase. Paging sky marshalls.
Farina told airport police and FBI agents that he had forgotten he put the .22-caliber semi-automatic weapon in the case, authorities said. He spent most of the day in a Van Nuys jail and was released on $35,000 bail. I tell you it's pretty easy to do, I often forget my gun too, it's kind of embarassing when you go to reach for your wallet and pull out a nice pistol instead. Cashiers tend to give you funny looks but they're usually really nice afterwards.
I guess he took the whole I'm not a cop but I play on TV thing a little too far. I guess if nothing else he has a funny story to tell.
