Stage dad grounded

So how do you get banned from American Idol besides getting voted off? Seems if you cost the show enough money, they're gonna kick your ass out.

Jeff Archuleta, David Archuleta's father, has been a pain in the ass this entire season which has been well documented, but this time he was a bit too much of an idjit. For some reason he wanted David to add a few extra words to this week's song, "Stand by Me." Daddy Dearest was told that the lyrics couldn't be changed, but David ended up adding a line from Sean Kingston's song "Beautiful Girls" anyway and sang it on live TV. Obviously David is a helluva lot more scared of his dad than the producers of the show.

Changing the lyrics ended up costing AI a buttload of money. How much is a buttload of money? I'm not sure, but it was enough to get Daddy Archuleta banned from anything backstage, although he can still take a seat in the audience during the shows. Sucks to be 86'd.

It's a good thing the season is almost over or else this could get really ugly.

YEP, HE'S A STAGE DAD FROM HELL

David Archuleta wants to be a star, but apparently his dad wants it worse.

Lots of stories have been going around about how horrible Jeff Archuleta, David's dad, is. Apparently he has a knack for making little kids cry and picking bad songs. Simon has even taken apparent pop shots at him on national T.V., but now country sweetie Naomi Judd is putting her 2 cents in.

The senior Archuleta got a verbal smack down from a country Naomi on Friday's Today Show. The country crooner was a judge on Star Search back when David was 12. She said "The minute I saw him (David) I went: 'Five stars -- he's going to be huge.'"But I want to give a shout out to his dad: leave him alone!"His dad is like the worst stage dad," she said."They had to put him in the security guard's little box!"

The security guard's little box? Harsh. I wonder if American Idol has a little box, maybe that's where all the fun backstage antics take place.
